What is under your control?

I am often asked many questions, ranging from "What is the target?" to "How long will you hold it?" to "What will be the impact of the Iran-Israel war?"

Remember, like Arjuna, you control your vision and bow & arrow. What that deer does is not under your control. Similarly, in the stock market, you have control over four critical things:

stock selection,

entry point,

position sizing,

and exit.

Focus on these, and stop worrying about the rest.

Remember, the stock market is not a crystal ball. The points under your control are the only ones that matter. The rest is just noise that can cloud your judgment. So, do you really think the Iran-Israel war or North Korea's threats can be quantitatively predicted to impact your portfolio?

If you're an investor, you should focus on the quality and longevity of the business bought at a fair valuation. If you're a trader, you should respect your stops. After entering a stock, you have sailed into the ocean, and you no longer control the outcome. You can not control the ocean's tides or waves but only your boat's steering wheel.

Stop worrying about the outcomes and focus on what matters most: Risk Management.
